Federally Approved: Sidekick III

If you're like us at GFC New York, we love our sidekicks. I know the women in my life hate it, because they feel they're always competing against it for attention. I apologize for being pre-occupied with it while at dinner in a restaurant or in the middle of a conversation, but that's just my A.D.D. acting up. I don't think that will be going away anytime soon though, since the Federal Communications Commission, (FCC), has approved the new and improved Sidekick III. The device will feature Bluetooth technology, miniSD for expandable memory, and 1.3 megapixel camera. Software updates are still being kept underwraps and release date hasn't been set. The wait will be coming to an end soon though, now that pictures are out and it's been approved by the FCC. So men get those pillows ready for the couch...haha

Garbege Easter Eggs

Garbege is bringing out the scavengers of New York City. To celebrate the launch of their Spring line, "The Roaring 20s" collection, they've replaced easter eggs with mini garbege cans. They've stashed these cans throughout the entire city. If you're lucky to find one, bring it to the Spring line release party this Wednesday, April 19th and receive a very special and very free gift!

*Hint: The cans are stashed inside the dopest shops in NYC.

P.S. Stop being an Oscar the Grouch, I'm sorry I can't tell you where the event is at. The joy will be in finding out for yourself. Keep on scavengering you scallywags...haha.

Have fun. One man's garbege, is another man's treasure.

I Swear I'm Fresh

Where is Tipper Gore and C. Delores Tuckett at when you need them. I'm waiting for people to start having protests shredding and stomping on this hoodie. They may even need to place a explicit sticker on them. Cops may find a way to give you a ticket for wearing it. But if you're like us, we like to excercise our 1st amendment rights even while sitting in central bookings. Like Jay-Z once said "Put your smarts on the side of your garments..." Here Number (N)ine swears to do just that, pun intended.

Black Diamond Mobile

Sony Ericsson is looking to make a bold statement in mobile communications with the release of the Black Diamond. The mobile phone, which is still currently in concept development phase, is as sleek and beautiful as any phone on the current market. Designed by industrial designer Jaren Goh, the handset's excellence is centered around the use of the revolutionary medium that will change the face of the mobile market; OLED technology otherwise known as 'Electronic Paper'. Details on the release are currently minimal, but we can tell that it should include a 4.o megapixel camera and the use of the OLED technology under the finished body of device will give the screen a borderless effect. As we would say over here at GFC, this phone compliments only the "mature and sensual."

Oscar Has Some Pimp In His Blood

'WE MAJOR'

'Can I Talk My S**T'

We'd like to send our congratulations to Three 6 Mafia. Not only did they have the opportunity to perform "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" at the Academy Awards. But they also won the Oscar for the Best Original Song category. The song which they wrote and produced for the movie, Hustle & Flow, beat out Bird York's "In The Deep" from Crash and Dolly Parton's "Travellin' Thru" from Transamerica. Also, we'd like to send a huge GFC congratulations to one of our own, Kwazz for helping Three 6 Mafia stay fly (pun intended). He is the one responsible for styling them for their historic night at the Academy Awards. We live on Cloud 9.

GFC the movement, coming to a cloud near you...

Through The Fire

Last night was a busy night in the city. Our good friends at Cornerstone Promotion invited us to Tribeca Cinema for the premiere screening of Through the Fire: Sebastian Telfair's Defining Year. This is the story of youth phenom Sebastian Telfair's journey from his final year at Lincoln High School to his jump to the NBA pros. For all those that need reasoning for why urban communities produce premiere athletes, for all those that want to see how strong families get through the struggles, and how a young man holds his composure when stardom and financial stability is knocking at his door, this is the movie to see. The documentary does a great job with exhibiting the realism of family, community, corporate and media influence, as Sebastian has to weigh his odds on whether to go to Louisville University or enlist in the NBA Draft, while still going at a 3rd consecutive PSAL title for Lincoln High.

The film opens in selective theatres today. Here is a listing of theatres in the city that'll be showing it:

IFC Center - 323 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10014 (Showtimes: 11:50, 3:55, 8:15, 10:30 (Plus 12:35 Fri/Sat - Fri & Sat *** Special Q&A with Director Jonathan Hock following 8:15pm show***)

Magic Johnson Theatre - Harlem 2309 Frederick Douglass Blvd. New York NY, 10027 (Showtimes: 11:30, 2:15, 5:00, 8:05, 10:50 *** Special Q&A with Director Jonathan Hock TBA***)

Myspace: The Movie

We have a new kid on the block and his name is David Lehre. A friend of mine sent me the link to check out this guys short film, Myspace: The Movie. I'm so sincere when I tell you that this film is hilarious. Everyone and their mother is on Myspace.com now in days, and David does a great job spoofing all the scenarios that make being on Myspace.com an adventure. Check it out for a good laugh.

And One Day They Shall Walk the Earth as One...

It's January in Connecticut, and although a few hundred people are all seeing the same thing, none of them can believe their eyes: Jay-Z and Nas — the two men who once engaged in arguably the greatest lyrical battle of all time— are standing together on top of the world. Figuratively, anyway.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, Thursday, February 16th at 11pm EST, MTV will be presenting their next installment of All Eyez On Me. This one here will be the most historical one to date-that's just how we feel over here at GFC New York. Two men of hip-hop that were at odds with each other, are now aligned and here to discuss with the world. Jay-Z and Nas, Hova & Godson, discuss with Sway, their place in hip-hop-the culture and business-what lies on the horizons musically for the both of them, as well as what has led up to their reconciliation. Tune in on Thursday, to find out how grown men handle business--Pull up your breeches young'n...
