Through The Fire

Last night was a busy night in the city. Our good friends at Cornerstone Promotion invited us to Tribeca Cinema for the premiere screening of Through the Fire: Sebastian Telfair's Defining Year. This is the story of youth phenom Sebastian Telfair's journey from his final year at Lincoln High School to his jump to the NBA pros. For all those that need reasoning for why urban communities produce premiere athletes, for all those that want to see how strong families get through the struggles, and how a young man holds his composure when stardom and financial stability is knocking at his door, this is the movie to see. The documentary does a great job with exhibiting the realism of family, community, corporate and media influence, as Sebastian has to weigh his odds on whether to go to Louisville University or enlist in the NBA Draft, while still going at a 3rd consecutive PSAL title for Lincoln High.

The film opens in selective theatres today. Here is a listing of theatres in the city that'll be showing it:

We have a new kid on the block and his name is David Lehre. A friend of mine sent me the link to check out this guys short film, Myspace: The Movie. I'm so sincere when I tell you that this film is hilarious. Everyone and their mother is on Myspace.com now in days, and David does a great job spoofing all the scenarios that make being on Myspace.com an adventure. Check it out for a good laugh.

adicolor 2006: Self Expression and Customization

OMG, adidas Originals has done it major this time around. This coming spring adidas Originals will begin retailing their adicolor 2006 line of footwear and apparel. They bring back the adicolor concept that was birth the same year I was, 1983. This line of footwear celebrated self-expression, customization, and unlimited personal involvement. It has set the precedent for what we have today with the boom of IDing sneakers, air brushing, and so forth. This second go around with adicolor, adidas has divided it into 2 major parts, the White Series and the new Colour Series. The Colour Series will feature a number of collaborations as adidas Originals has teamed up with a diverse group of partners, all icons from the world of fashion and art. Get ready this coming March 4th, for one of-if not-the greatest collaborations in sneaker design & marketing.

Here are the GFC New York favorites from each series:

adicolor White Series
adicolor Red Series
adicolor Blue Series
adicolor Green Series
adicolor Yellow Series
adicolor Pink Series

Soled Out

"Soled Out" is a documentary that GFC New York had the opportunity to take part in. Close friend and colleague Ronin and company wanted to put a sneaker documentary together that not only showcased the glam of the sneaker culture, but also the injustices and consequences that come about it. I must say this piece is "Real Talk" especially since it's not being done from the perspective of a social activist but from those that live the culture. To click HERE to watch the short documentary. Leave feedback since this a film done for the people by the people.
